In the center of the picture, the tracks on the reinforced concrete base reflect a metallic luster, stretching straight into the distance until they converge into a single point.

Continuing forward along the direction of the railway tracks, the project staff told reporters that they conduct routine monitoring and inspections every day. The project team conducted a detailed survey and formulated a thorough environmental protection plan before construction; during the construction period, they strived to minimize the ecological impact, built culverts of different sizes according to local conditions to facilitate animal migration, and promptly restored the surrounding vegetation and water environment.

"Traces of wild animals such as Malayan tapirs and wild boars have been found along the route," Balzu, an environmental officer from the fifth section of the Malaysia-China East Coast Railway (MCECR) project who hails from Terengganu, told reporters. "We hope that after the railway is completed and put into operation, these culverts will allow them to pass through safely."

These attempts to pursue harmonious coexistence between development and nature also embody the efforts of the China-Malaysia construction team. Day after day, they conduct surveys in the forests, build bridges by the lakes, and夯实 foundations on flat ground, gradually turning the plans on the drawings into reality. "Everyone worked hard together, constantly overcoming difficulties, making this railway from scratch," said Qiu Peiling, assistant general manager of the Human Resources Department of the China Communications Construction Malaysia East Coast Rail Link Project General Manager's Office.

"There was once a time when it rained heavily for seven consecutive days. The project team not only had to find ways to drain water, protect building materials, and clean up silt, but also had to rush to meet the construction schedule during the short sunny periods," said He Jianyao, the safety officer of the 6th Division of the Malaysia East Coast Rail Link (MECRL) project. He added that the East Coast region has complex terrain and a long rainy season, making construction conditions tough. However, for the builders, being able to quickly build a便道 or lay a section of rail is like "building a road" to accelerate the local development.

Looking back on each interview about the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project, convenience and efficiency have always been the most frequently mentioned keywords. Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar has pointed out that the ECRL is not only a modern, advanced, and fast transportation system but will also become a catalyst for developing new growth areas in the regions along the route. For the ECRL, convenience not only means an improvement in speed but also symbolizes the balance of regional development—reconnecting resources, industries, and human flow in a broader space.

"The greatest significance of the future opening of the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) may be that it makes home no longer feel far away," said Hong Liwei, a local Chinese girl from Pahang and a financial assistant at the fifth division of the ECRL project. "Many Malay friends from the East Coast leave their hometowns to work. Returning home during festivals has always been a problem; sometimes they even get stuck in traffic for nearly ten hours. However, after the railway opens, the time taken to return home can be halved."

"I believe that in the near future, we will be able to take the train home for the holidays." said the Vikton siblings from Kelantan, who came to work near Port Klang on the West Coast a few years ago. The journey home across the peninsula during holidays has always put a lot of pressure on them.

"Traffic jams are common when driving, and planes are not cost-effective. After the Malaysia-Thailand Railway opens, taking the train home will definitely be more convenient,"WinKdo said. He also expressed his expectation to enjoy the cities and scenery along the route on the train, adding, "This will make the journey back home more relaxed and the experience more enriching."

On the way back, as far as the eye could see, the Malaysia East Coast Rail Link (MECRL) was stretching forward. This railway, which runs through Malaysia's east and west coasts, not only shortens the distance of time and space, but also closely connects humans with nature, development with protection, and distant places with hometowns.
