Xuzhou, Jiangsu Province, is an important railway hub in East China. After entering the dog days, Xuzhou has entered a mode of alternating high temperatures and heavy rains. To ensure the safe and smooth operation of railway transportation, staff from the railway department stick to their posts during the summer travel rush, safeguarding the safe travel of passengers.

During the Major Heat solar term, the outdoor temperature in Xuzhou at midnight also reaches 30 degrees Celsius. However, maintenance personnel need to conduct a "full-body check-up" on the railway equipment and facilities in the Xuzhou East Railway Station area during the "window period" of high-speed railway transportation, which is the time when no trains pass through.

At Xuzhou East Railway Station, on the internal railway tracks, more than 30 workers from the railway engineering section, signal section, and power supply section separately carried out maintenance work on equipment such as tracks, signal machines, switches, track circuits, and catenary section insulators.


The small cart being pushed by the maintenance workers is called a track detector. Once the track has deviations in terms of level, height, or inclination, it can detect them in real-time. When the workers push the 25-kilogram track detector for 4 kilometers, it is comparable to running a "mini marathon."


This 240-jin heavyweight is called a rail grinder. Every night, workers operate it to grind the rails with burrs smooth, ensuring the safety of train operations.


In addition to Xuzhou East Railway Station, at other railway stations in the Xuzhou area, more than 800 high-speed rail "night watchmen" carry out inspection and maintenance work on tracks, signal machines, turnouts and other equipment on the rails every night.

Zhang Jinhuai, director of the Xuzhou East-Xulan High-speed Railway Signal Workshop of Xuzhou Signal Section, introduced that during the entire summer transport period, they will continue to carry out inspection and maintenance, and at the same time do a good job in flood prevention and flood control to ensure the safe travel of passengers.
